We are paid when somebody we refer buys a solar system. Here is exactly how that works and what it means for what you read on this site.

The short answer

NY Solar Finder is operated by RBR Growth Consulting, which is paid a referral fee by a solar installer when a referral it sends leads to a sale. The site is free to use, no payment is taken through it, and we are not a solar installer.

The short version

NY Solar Finder is a trading name of RBR Growth Consulting. It is not owned by, controlled by, or an agent of any solar installation company.

If you ask for a consultation, we provide your details to one independent solar installer. If that referral leads to a sale, we are paid a referral fee by that installer.

There is no cost to you at any point, and no payment is ever taken through this site.

Exactly who gets your information

RBR Growth Consulting collects your enquiry through this website and provides it to no more than one independent solar installer, so that they can arrange the consultation you asked for.

That is the whole chain. Your details do not go into a lead marketplace, they are not offered to several installers, and they are not resold as a record.

What independent does and does not mean here

It is worth being precise, because the word gets used loosely in this industry.

  • We are independent of installers. No installer owns us, funds the site directly, or reviews, approves or supplies anything you read here.
  • We are not independent of the outcome. We are paid when a referral results in a sale. That is a real commercial interest and it is why this page exists.
  • We are not a comparison service. We do not compare quotes between installers, rank companies, or select a best one on your behalf. Today there is one referral route.

How we handle the conflict

An arrangement like this creates an incentive to push people toward solar, so it is fair to ask what we do about that. Concretely:

  • We say when solar does not suit a property. Heavy shading, a roof near the end of its life, or a house move inside a few years are all real reasons not to proceed, and our guides say so.
  • We publish no company rankings. Any ranking we produced would be shaped by commission, exactly like every other one you will find.
  • We publish no reviews or star ratings. The site is new and has none, so we show none rather than inventing them.
  • We do not guarantee the installer's credentials. We have no contract giving us the right to audit anyone, so instead we show you how to check them yourself.
  • We do not overstate incentives. Every figure carries a verification date, and we removed the federal residential credit that other sites still advertise, because it ended.

Why the installer is not named here

We do not publish the installer's name or branding on this site, because we are not their agent and this is not their website. Everything you read here is written by us.

Where certification bodies such as NABCEP or NYSERDA are mentioned, those credentials belong to installers, not to us. NY Solar Finder is not a solar installer and holds no industry certification of its own.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, email info@nysolarfinder.com. We would rather answer a question about how we are paid than have somebody wonder.

Common questions

Questions people ask about this

No. The service is free and no payment is taken through this site. We are paid by the installer, not by you.

It creates an incentive, which is why it is disclosed on every page rather than in a footnote. In practice we publish no company rankings, no reviews and no credential guarantees, and we state plainly when solar does not suit a property. Those choices cost us revenue and are the point of the site.

No. Your enquiry goes to no more than one installer, so they can arrange the consultation you asked for. We do not place details into a lead marketplace.

No, and we do not claim to. There is one referral route today. If that changes we will describe it accurately at the time rather than in advance.

RBR Growth Consulting. The site is not owned by, branded as, or operated on behalf of any solar installation company.
